The Applied Photonics Award honors particularly original and innovative theses dealing with the topics of applied photonics by young researchers. Dr. Weitz reseach on light-field driven logic gates was recognised for its potential in using extremely short and intense laser pulses to not only overcome current limitations of computer processing speeds, but to dramatically increase them.
