Tobias Boolakee from the Hommelhoff group was awarded the first prize of the Nano Innovation Award from the Center for NanoScience of the Ludwig Maximilians University. His first demonstration of an electronic logic gate controlled by ultrashort laser pulses has the potential to make computational operations at least ten thousand times faster than they are now. Named petahertz or lightwave electronics, this collaborative work with the University of Rochester is the object of this award.
